As Business Owners we tend to focus more on getting new followers/fans/customers, versus focusing on our current customers. I know we are all guilty of this! For some reason, the number of followers you have determines your success to many people. From the outside looking in people associate follower #’s with success. In reality there is no such thing as overnight success and having a large quantity of followers, doesn’t necessarily mean they are or will ever become customers. Focus on quality, not quantity.
It’s time to STOP focusing on the numbers (how many new followers can I get!?) and focus on the customers/clients who have already purchased products from us. We cannot neglect them! Our goal should be keeping our customers happy (by any means necessary). This will most likely convert many of them into loyal customers and will also result an increase of word of mouth marketing.
1. Courting your Customers
Keeping in touch with your customers should be every business owners #1 priority. It’s essential to include your contact information in all your packaging so customers will be able to locate you. Also, be sure to save their contact information. But don’t stop there! Afterwards it’s a great idea to send follow up, Thank you card or gift. Many times we do not want to give away free products, however everyone loves gifts! By surprising your customers with gift(s) this will make them feel special and appreciated. This will require an investment as a Business Owner, but it will be well worth it.
2. Customer Appreciation Card
Stop and think for a second… (Count 1, 2, 3) When you support a business, do you feel appreciated? If not, will you return back to make additional purchases? More then likely, NO. Providing customers with incentives and discounts shows them you appreciate their business.
3. Customer Appreciation Party
It’s extremely important that entrepreneurs show their customers they are appreciated. Hosting a cocktail reception, Girls Night Out, Guys Night Out, Dinner Party, etc. and of course shower them with gifts and Thank you’s. I am in the process of planning a party for my customers and it’s going to be amazing! A customer appreciation event is very beneficial, it can result in repeat customers and referrals.
